The Diamondbacks could look to trade outfielder Eric Byrnes this winter, and the Mets could be a likely destination.
Byrnes is owed $22 million over the next two years, and they could deal him from another bad contract, like that of New York's Luis Castillo.
The second baseman is owed $18 million through 2011.

Tigers To Deal Ordo?ez?
The Tigers could opt to trade outfielder Magglio Ordo?ez after the team's disappointing season, according to the Detroit Free Press.
"We have a losing record, with the players we have," Ordo?ez admitted last week. "There's going to be changes."
Magglio is one of Detroit's most popular players, a postseason hero and the defending American League batting champion, but he's also owed $18 million next season.
"This game is a business," Ordo?ez said. "They trade players. They play for four or five years and then (teams) trade them. You don't see those franchise players that spend their career for only one team.
"I want to play hard, help this team win, and hopefully finish my career here."
